Two of our fans went on a life-changing trip to Korea on the Kia Lucky Drive to Seoul! From meeting the stars to getting the star treatment, they got to experience the best Seoul had to offer. Jiong Yi, together with his wife, won our Test Drive & Win contest, while Alyssa and her sister were the winners of our Dance Off contest. Check out what they got up to below!
I had a feeling the Stonic was the “one” after coming across a Facebook ad for it. I took it out for a spin with my wife, Shi En and was surprised by its performance despite the small engine capacity. Even more surprising was that we had been chosen as the winners of the Kia Lucky Drive to Seoul.
We were pretty sceptical at first, but once it was confirmed we were thrilled since we had been looking for a honeymoon spot anyway!
I wasn't really into K-pop before this trip, but Shi En's been a huge fan since her secondary school days and it was great to see her fangirling over BLACKPINK in person. She doesn't express her emotions freely in public that much, so I feel this experience brought us closer. For me, seeing BLACKPINK's dedication to entertaining their fans despite their busy schedule gave me a newfound respect and admiration for them.
Next up was a trip to Insa-dong and Gyeongbokgung. We got to immerse ourselves in ancient Korea with a tour of the royal palace while wearing the traditional hanbok.
To cap off the trip, we even got VIP seats to see other big names like BTS at the Melon Music Awards. It was a real treat for my wife and I as we don't get much time to attend concerts together back home.
One thing's for sure, Korea's going to be at the top of our travel list - there's just so much to explore (and food left to try!). I thought I was getting my dream ride with the Stonic, but we've gotten so much more in return. Thanks Kia!
We're incredibly lucky and thankful for the support we've had to be selected as the winners of the Kia BLACKPINK SG Dance Off.
I wanted to use this contest as a way for me to reconnect with my sister, Ashleigh. (Maybe it's fate, but the last time we danced together was for a cover of BLACKPINK's Playing with Fire!) There were lots of late nights spent on choreography, getting our costumes and running away from security guards - I even made a PowerPoint so we could go through our routine, we were that serious about winning!
In Seoul, apart from the great eats arranged for us at every stop by the Kia team, it was a blast getting to train with BLACKPINK's official dance crew. As a dance instructor myself, I learnt a lot from how they overcame the language barrier and coached a class of dancers of all experience levels. Bonus: Ashleigh and I were even selected to appear in a Kia marketing video at the very end!
As cliché as it sounds, meeting BLACKPINK was a dream come true. We're big Lisanations members, so hearing Lisa exclaim how much she loved the salted egg chips we'd prepared was awesome! Hearing Rosé talk the constant work they put into their music and improving themselves was super inspiring too.
Getting to attend the Melon Music Awards was surreal, we're still pinching ourselves over the fact that we got to meet stars like BTS, MAMAMOO, ITZY and Chungha. Seeing them perform live up-close is a privilege I'll never forget.
After this whole experience, Ashleigh and I can't wait to get back to dancing together again. Seoul's just the start - we're looking to add more dance studios to our bucket list! Our schedules don't always align but having seen the dedication of those at the very top, we couldn't be more energised to start.
